Some 50 People Killed in Tank Truck Fire in DRC - Provincial Governor

Around 50 people were killed as a result of a road accident in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that led to a tank truck fire, acting governor of the province said Saturday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th October, 2018) Around 50 people were killed as a result of a road accident in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that led to a tank truck fire, acting governor of the province said Saturday.

"There has been a fire. A towed vehicle, which was transporting fuel from Matadi, collided with another one, going from Kinshasa ... We deplore the deaths of 50 people and second-degree burns caused to about 100 people," Atou Matubwana said as quoted by the local Politico magazine.

Medical care is being provided to those wounded in the accident in the Mbuba village of the Kongo Central Province.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
