Chicago Policeman Found Guilty Of Second-Degree Murder For Shooting Black Teen - Reports

NEW YORK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th October, 2018) A Chicago police officer who fatally shot a black teenager in 2014 has been found guilty of second-degree murder, local media reported on Friday.

Jason Van Dyke shot Laquan McDonald 16 times in less than a minute four years ago, Fox news said.

In addition to being found guilty of second-degree murder, Van Dyke was also found guilty on 16 counts of aggravated battery, the report said.

Van Dyke has thus became the first Chicago police officer convicted of murder for an on-duty shooting in nearly half a century, according to the report.

A dashboard camera video of the shooting incident was released in 2015 that sparked racial tensions the Chicago and fueled a national debate on police practices in minority communities in the United States.

Protestors gathered outside the courthouse reportedly chanted "justice has won" after the verdict.
