Russia will continue to work on developing visa liberalization policies with the countries of Latin America, Russian Foreign Ministry's Director of the Latin American Department Alexander Schetinin said on Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th October, 2018) Russia will continue to work on developing visa liberalization policies with the countries of Latin America, Russian Foreign Ministry's Director of the Latin American Department Alexander Schetinin said on Thursday.

The official said that last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had held a number of meetings with Latin American officials on the sidelines of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

"A large number of bilateral agreements have been signed. The growing zone of [Russian] citizens' visa free trips is maybe the most important issue. For the moment, such agreements have been signed with 24 out of 33 [Latin American] countries. This work will continue. We have the visa free regime with the whole of South America, almost all countries of Central America, and now we are working with the Caribbean states," Schetinin said on the sidelines of the Valdai discussion forum.

Recent visa liberalization agreements were signed between Russia, and Dominica and Suriname on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
