Legislators Urge For Construction Of Dams In Balochistan

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Sep, 2018 ) :Lawmakers emphasized that potential measures should be taken to establish dams on emergency bases in order to address water issues as its underground levels are deepening across province after approving unanimously resolution in session of assembly.
Deputy Speaker Balochistan Assembly Sardar Babar Musakhel chaired the assembly session on Friday.
Lawmaker of Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), Nasrullah Zeray tabled a resolution which read that Balochistan is experiencing drought from prolong times owing to this water levels is becoming alarm situation in the province.
It said 75 percent population is dependable on agricultural and agriculture of province is at the verge of damaging position, therefore the provincial government should take necessary steps to establish big dams and small dams after consultation of legislators and experts engineers. "The provincial government in consultation with Federal government will ensure construction of new dams in respective areas of Balochistan", he added.
JUI-F, MPA Skindar Khan Advocate placed another resolution which read that the federal government had increased price of electricity on per units which is heavy burden on the people of Balochistan because most of citizens are labourers. It said majority of youth are jobless in Balochistan and increasing of electricity unit create poverty in province which would increase deprivation among citizens.
He urged provincial government to form a committee to deal electric issue with federal government for decreasing of electric price through legal processes.
Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) MPA Sana Baloch also announced to accept the resolution and said there was 18 hours load shedding of electricity in rural areas of the province including Kharan, Kalat, Pishin, Zairat and other areas. It is effecting every field of life including health, education and agricultural sectors besides. He said federal government should take notice of prolonged loadshedding and the provincial government would call Chief of Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) in upcoming session of assembly for addressing electricity matters.
MPAs including Naseer Shahwani, Sana Baloch, Muhammad Khan Lehri, Mitah Khan, Zia Lango also discussed on inflation of electricity and stressed to constitute a committee comprising legislators of the province to talk central government for ensuring electric related issues for betterment of province.
PKMAP's MPA Nasrullah Zeray put a resolution regarding export related issues of vegetables' growers.
MPA Naseer Shahwahni, Zai Lango, Zamaurk Khan Achakzai and other minsters said that a committee will be formed to deal such issue with federal government.
The resolutions were passed by lawmakers during session of assembly.
The lawmakers expressed their views regarding notification of closing BS programs and said all possible steps will be taken to save future of the students as they had studied BS syllabus from four months.
The Deputy Speaker said Secretary Higher Education will be called for upcoming session for brifing on the matter.
The House was adjourned till first October.
