Keep politics out of sports: Adnan Siddiqui is unhappy with Pak-India cricket shows

Says there is already too much tension between the neighbouring countries to politicise the cricket matches as well.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 26th September, 2018) Actor Adnan Siddiqui has expressed his displeasure over the joint transmissions by Pakistani and Indian tv channels over Pak-India matches in the ongoing Asia Cup.

Criticising the shows, the actor said that he was not happy to see the not-so-pleasant comments from both the sides when he watched a show called ‘Takrar’.

“The other day I watched the 'takrar show' between Pakistan and India news anchors debate regarding PAKvIND Asia Cup and was not very happy to see the not-so-pleasant comments from both the sides,” he wrote on his Instagram account.

He said that both the channels only wanted high ratings, and asserted that there is already too much tension between the neighbouring countries to politicise the cricket matches as well.

“Also it was evident that both the channels were trying to get the Trp's high. It would've been nice had the discussion been about constructive criticism of the game that the two teams have been playing. Just want to say to my friends here and across the border- there's too much tension already on the political front which shouldn't be there to begin with,” he further wrote.

He urged the people of both the countries to spread love and keep politics out of sports.

“Let's keep politics out of sports. Cricket is a gentleman's game, let's stick to that. Let's spread love and peace. The world needs more of that.”

Pakistan has played two matches against India in the Asia Cup 2018 and has lost both of them.
