Celebrating 68th birth anniversary of Shahenshah-e-Qawwali today

Lahore, (Pakistan Point News – 13th September, 2016) : World famous Pakistani musician and Qawwal Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s 68th birth anniversary is being observed today. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the legend Qawwal was born on October 13‚ 1948 in Faisalabad. His father Fateh Ali Khan was a musician, vocalist, instrumentalist, and Qawwal himself. His genre of singing was Qawwali and considered among the greatest singers ever recorded. Many professional singers claimed that he possessed a six-octave vocal range and could perform at highest level of intensity for many hours.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is credited for introducing Sufi music to international audiences. He was popularly known as Shahenshah-e-Qawwali‚ meaning The King of Kings of Qawwali. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan held the world record for the largest recorded output, a total of 125 albums, by a Qawwal as of 2001. He was suffered from kidney and liver failure on August 11‚ 1997 in London and shifted to Cromwell Hospital for medical treatment. He died of a sudden cardiac attack during treatment on August 16‚ 1997 at the age of 48.
