No Fixed Dates for Launch of Mechanism to Facilitate Trade With Iran Yet - EU Commission

There are no any exact dates for the launch of a special mechanism to facilitate transactions with Iran amid the US sanctions, European Commission spokesman Carlos Martin Ruiz de Gordejuela said on Tuesday.

BRUSSELS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) There are no any exact dates for the launch of a special mechanism to facilitate transactions with Iran amid the US sanctions, European Commission spokesman Carlos Martin Ruiz de Gordejuela said on Tuesday.

On Monday, EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini announced that foreign ministers of the remaining signatories to the Iran nuclear deal had agreed on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to establish a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that would facilitate trade between European companies and Iran amid the US sanctions against Tehran.

"These proposals have to be seen as part of the measures which the Commission puts in place to facilitate the trade and work of these companies that continue investing in Iran. We do not have details, we do not have any fixed dates," the spokesman told a briefing, when asked about the timeline for the mechanism's launch.

He noted that technical meetings would be convened in the future to flesh out the details.
