International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde in a statement on Monday said she met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the UN to discuss economic issues and reform priorities.

UNITED NATIONS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th September, 2018) International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde in a statement on Monday said she met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the UN to discuss economic issues and reform priorities.

"We... discussed global developments and economic challenges facing Iran, as well as the key reform priorities needed to safeguard macroeconomic stability at this time," Lagarde said.

Lagarde said she also expressed her condolences to the families of victims in Saturday's attack in Iran.

On Saturday, at least 25 people were killed and 60 others injured in a terror attack targeting a military parade in the city of Ahvaz. The Saudi-backed Ahwazieh secessionist movement has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Lagarde and Rouhani met in New York on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, which started September 18 and wraps up October 5.
