CHISINAU (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) Russia remains the largest trade partner for Moldova, Moldovan President Igor Dodon said on Thursday.

"Russia remains the largest trade partner for Moldova, keeping the first place both in exports from Moldova and in imports. At the same time, Moldova's trade relations with the Russia remain very balanced among the largest partners ... Unlike other important partners, Moldova has for a long time maintained a balance between exports and imports in trade relations with Russia," Dodon said on Facebook in the context of the Moldovan-Russian economic forum (MREF).

The president made conclusions based on the official data of the National Bureau of Statistics and the National Bank of Moldova over the past ten years.

"Another aspect concerns foreign direct investment, which provides economic growth, job creation and exports. Russia is still the largest foreign investor in the Republic of Moldova with an investment volume of over $716 million," Dodon said.
