CBR, Russia's Large Banks Prepared for Specific Variants of Sanctions - Deputy Governor

The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) discussed with large Russian banks steps to take in case of specific sanctions, although it hopes that they will not be needed, CBR First Deputy Governor Kseniya Yudaeva told reporters Thursday on the sidelines of the Second Eurasian Women's Forum.

ST. PETERSBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) discussed with large Russian banks steps to take in case of specific sanctions, although it hopes that they will not be needed, CBR First Deputy Governor Kseniya Yudaeva told reporters Thursday on the sidelines of the Second Eurasian Women's Forum.

CBR Governor Elvira Nabiullina last week said the regulator discussed with every major bank a system of measures in the event of US sanctions.

"We always consider measures to maintain financial stability. If these are measures for the stability of the entire market, they are designed for stabilization and concern all participants. But with large banks, we really studied the situation separately, including some specific scenarios that may arise and may be implemented with respect to specific banks," Yudayeva said.

"The main thing is to be ready for anything. We do hope that nothing of the kind will happen, but it's important to always be ready for any situations. The task was just to prepare to understand how to act in different scenarios," she said.
