MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomes the agreements reached during the talks between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in in Pyongyang, Guterres' spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement.

The third inter-Korean summit this year was held in North Korean capital on September 18-20. Seoul and Pyongyang signed a military agreement in which they agreed to work toward creating a joint military commission to solve the issue of mutual trust. The parties also decided to establish an 80-kilometer (50-mile) zone in the border regions of the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan, where military exercises will not be conducted.

"The commitments reflected in the joint statement include important military confidence-building measures and a commitment by the DPRK to dismantle missile engine testing infrastructure in the presence of experts from related countries. Now it is time for concrete action," Dujarric's statement read.

Guterres called on the international community to support the sides in their efforts toward "sustainable peace, security and complete and verifiable denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula" in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, the statement said.

Kim and Moon also met in April and May this year.
