Russian Diplomats Unable To View Yaroshenko's Medical Records As He Did Not Sign Release

NEW YORK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) Russian diplomats in the United States do not have access to the medical records of jailed pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, who is serving a 20-year term in the US prison, as the convict has not yet signed a required release form, a source inside Russia's diplomatic corps told Sputnik on Wednesday.

Media reports have said that Yaroshenko is experiencing health problems for which he is not being treated in prison. At the same time, the pilot's wife, who recently visited him for the first time in several years, told reporters that she "has managed to show him to the doctors."

"The administration of Danbury prison cannot show us any information on the state of Yaroshenko's health, as he did not sign the required form, without which they cannot share any information," the source told Sputnik.

The source noted that the prison keeps medical records for all the convicts.

The Russian Consulate in New York told Sputnik that they remain "ready to address any appeal and help the Russian citizen."

The diplomatic source added that "the prison administration usually complies with requests in such cases."

Yaroshenko was captured in Liberia in 2010 and sentenced the following year in the United States to 20 years in prison on charges of conspiring to import drugs. In 2016, the New York Court of Appeals refused to revise the Yaroshenko's sentence.

In June, Yaroshenko was transferred from the Fort Dix prison in the US state in New Jersey to the Danbury correctional facility in Connecticut.
