Karachi Port Trust, Inros Lackner To Reconstruct Oil Pier At Keamari

Karachi Port Trust has signed a designed engineering consultancy agreement for the reconstruction of Oil Pier-1 (OP-1) with M/s Inros Lackner (Germany) and Techno Consult (JV).
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Sep, 2018 ) :Karachi Port Trust has signed a designed engineering consultancy agreement for the reconstruction of Oil Pier-1 (OP-1) with M/s Inros Lackner (Germany) and Techno Consult (JV).
KPT statement issued on Wednesday said, this will upgrade the existing OP-1 facility to handle 100,000 dead weight tonnage tankers at Karachi Port.
After the re-construction, the facility of OP-1 will be able to handle all types of liquid cargoes at the port.
Under the agreement, the Consultants will prepare design, estimates and tender document.
Karachi Port has three oil piers at present. The OP-1 has outlived its life of 40 years as it was constructed in 1978. Presently, the oil pier has the capacity to handle 8 million tons per annum liquid cargo from 75,000 DWT vessels.
