RPT: PREVIEW - International Migration Conference To Be Held In Moscow On September 19-21

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) The fourth international conference dubbed "Migration and International Law," during which participants will address the issue of migration from a legal, political and moral perspective, will be held from Wednesday through Friday in Moscow.

The event is organized by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), a non-profit think tank, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Russian Presidential academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).

Topics that will be discussed during panel sessions include the moral imperative behind international migration legislation, obstacles to the implementation of international norms, mechanisms for ensuring migrant rights, among others. The participants will also touch upon the impact of regional economic integration on the states' decision-making processes regarding migration policy.

The conference comes at the same time when EU member state leaders will gather in Austria's Salzburg to discuss the migration crisis in Europe from Wednesday to Thursday.

Participants of the event include head of regional delegation of the ICRC in Russia Barth Magne; the acting representative of the UN Refugee Agency, Anne-Elisabeth Ravetto; the head of the Moscow bureau of the International Organization for Migration, Igor Kazanets; and economic affairs officer at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Teresa Albano.

The previous conference was held in September 2017. It focused on international cooperation and national strategies for tackling the migration crisis.
