Taliban Militants Kill 9 Policemen in Northern Afghanistan - Reports

Nine Afghan police officers were killed as a result of an attack by the Taliban movement on a police checkpoint in the country's northern province, local media reported on Monday, citing a spokesperson of a local hospital.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th September, 2018) Nine Afghan police officers were killed as a result of an attack by the Taliban movement on a police checkpoint in the country's northern province, local media reported on Monday, citing a spokesperson of a local hospital.

The attack took place in one of the districts of the Balkh province, according to the 1TV broadcaster.

The Afghan media reported last week citing an official that at least 18 militants supporting the Taliban were killed and 11 others wounded in an airstrike conducted by the Afghan forces in southern Kandahar province.

Afghanistan has long been suffering from an unstable political, social and security situation due to simmering Taliban insurgency. The violence is exacerbated by the activities of various terrorist groups, including the Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia).
