Russia welcomes the reduced military activity on the Korean peninsula as well as direct contacts between the leaders of North Korea and the United States, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia said on Monday.
WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th September, 2018) Russia welcomes the reduced military activity on the Korean peninsula as well as direct contacts between the leaders of North Korea and the United States, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia said on Monday.
"Russia welcomes also the outcome of what have already been done - lowered military activity [and] direct contact between the leader of DPRK the Republic of Korea and the United States," Nebenzia told the UN Security Council.
Nebenzia said that Russia fully supports the negotiation process between North and South Korea, which started earlier this year.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in held bilateral meetings in April and in May. A third meeting has been scheduled to take place in North Korea September 18-20.
