UPDATE-2 - UK Police Say Cordoned Off Salisbury Restaurant Over 'Medical Incident' With 2 People

LONDON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th September, 2018) The UK police said that they have cordoned off a restaurant in the city of Salisbury after "a medical incident" with two visitors who fell ill on Sunday evening.

"Police were called by the ambulance service to Prezzo, High Street, Salisbury at 6.45pm today following a medical incident involving two people - a man and a woman. As a precautionary measure, the restaurant and surrounding roads have been cordoned off while officers attend the scene and establish the circumstances surrounding what led them to fall ill," Wiltshire Police said in a statement, posted on Twitter.

According to the SkyNews broadcaster, four ambulances and a hazardous area response team were dispatched to the scene of the incident.

Later the broadcaster reported, citing Western Ambulance Service, that the people affected were conscious and were being provided with medical assistance at the scene.

The Daily Mail tabloid newspaper, in turn, reported, citing an eyewitness, that the two people who fell ill were Russian nationals.

According to the news outlet, the restaurant's diners were asked to provide their blood samples to Salisbury Hospital.

Safety precautions have frequently been taken in Salisbury after the March events when former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were allegedly poisoned with what London claimed was the A234 nerve agent in Salisbury. Before the poisoning, the Skripals are believed to have attended Mill pub and Zizzi restaurant.

The UK authorities accused Russia of staging the attack, which Moscow has repeatedly strongly denied.
