TASHKENT (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th September, 2018) US Department of State's Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Samuel Dale Brownback will arrive in Uzbekistan on Monday and the program of his visit will include a meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
"On September 17, 2018, a US delegation led by Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Samuel Dale Brownback arrives in Uzbekistan," the statement read.
The ministry added that the visit would envisage a meeting with Mirziyoyev, as well as talks in the Senate, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Foreign Ministry, the Justice Ministry and the Muslim board.
"The members of the delegation will also participate in the panel discussion 'Religious tolerance: the Uzbek and the US experience' in Tashkent," the statement read.
The US Department of State reported earlier that Brownback was going to focus on Uzbekistan's "positive steps on religious freedom policies" and to encourage legislative reforms promoting freedom of belief in the country during his negotiations with Uzbek senior government officials.
