WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th September, 2018) Hurricane Florence has downgraded into a tropical storm, but it remains life-threatening one, the National Hurricane Center said in an advisory.
"Florence now producing tropical-storm wind gusts... life threatening storm surges to continue tonight," the advisory said on Friday afternoon.
Catastrophic flooding is expected over portions of North Carolina and South Carolina amid winds reaching up to 70 miles per hour, the advisory said.
At least four people have died in the US state of North Carolina as a result of the storm, including a woman and a baby in the city of Wilmington.
Another person in Lenoir County died while trying to plug in a generator, media reports quoted local authorities as saying.
