WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th September, 2018) At least four people have died in the US state of North Carolina as a result of Hurricane Florence, including a woman and a baby in the city of Wilmington, local officials and media reports said on Friday.

"WPD [Wilmington Police Department] can confirm the first two fatalities of Hurricane Florence in Wilmington. A mother and infant were killed when a tree fell on their house," the Wilmington Police Department said in a Twitter post.

A woman also died in Hampstead, North Carolina, after having a heart attack in an area that could not be reached by rescue crews due to downed trees on streets, local media reported, citing emergency officials.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Florence is still considered a Category 1 storm with winds of up to 75 miles per hour as it slowly moves across Southeastern North Carolina.
