US, Indonesia Commit to Strengthening Counterterrorism Cooperation - State Department

US Coordinator for Counterterrorism Nathan Sales and his Indonesian counterpart have signed a memorandum to strengthen counterterrorism cooperation between both countries, the Department of State said in a press release on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th September, 2018) US Coordinator for Counterterrorism Nathan Sales and his Indonesian counterpart have signed a memorandum to strengthen counterterrorism cooperation between both countries, the Department of State said in a press release on Friday.

"Ambassador Nathan A. Sales, the US Coordinator for Counterterrorism, and Commissioner General Suhardi Alius, Chief of the Indonesian National Counterterrorism Agency, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia on Strengthening Counterterrorism Cooperation," the release said.

Both countries will enhance cooperation by improving the exchange of information and best practices, the release said.

They also pledge to build up their capacity to counter these threats though collaborative training and education, the release added.

Earlier on Friday, Sales and Alius signed the Memorandum of Understanding in Jakarta. The signing concludes Sales' trip through Southeast Asia to visit officials in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia to discuss global terrorism and developing cooperation to meet the threat.

Sales also raised the issue of aviation security during his bilateral talks with officials in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
