UK Passport Holders to Be Considered 3rd Country Nationals in EU in Case of No Deal Brexit

After March 29, in case of a no deal Brexit, a UK passport holder will be considered a third country national, the UK Foreign Office said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th September, 2018) After March 29, in case of a no deal Brexit, a UK passport holder will be considered a third country national, the UK Foreign Office said Thursday.

"After 29 March 2019, if you're a British passport holder (including passports issued by the Crown Dependencies and Gibraltar), you'll be considered a third country national - under the Schengen Border Code and will therefore need to comply with different rules to enter and travel around the Schengen area. Third-country nationals are citizens of countries (like Australia, Canada and the USA) which do not belong to the EU or the European Economic Area," the paper read.

The government also said that the blue passports would start being issued from late 2019. The United Kingdom used to have blue passports until 1988 when the government decided to change the color to the EU burgundy red.

The United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union in a referendum in 2016, but the vote left the country divided almost equally into Remainers and Brexiteers.
