Russia's Vessel Detained in South Africa Leaves Port Elizabeth - Embassy

Russia's Lada vessel detained earlier in South Africa left Port Elizabeth on Saturday, the Russian Embassy in South Africa told Sputnik on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th September, 2018) Russia's Lada vessel detained earlier in South Africa left Port Elizabeth on Saturday, the Russian Embassy in South Africa told Sputnik on Wednesday.

"The ship left the Ngqura port [near Port Elizabeth] on Saturday. The required transit permit has been obtained, the required South African side procedures have been carried out," a representative of the embassy said.

Earlier reports suggested that the South African police detained a vessel with "dangerous cargo" on board allegedly under a Russian flag. The embassy told Sputnik that the ship was carrying, among other things, industrial explosives and was detained due to the lack of necessary documents for it, which the company had to urgently prepare.
