Russian President Vladimir Putin has become a leader at the Okean (Ocean) children's center in Vladivostok, while Chinese President Xi Jinping received a portrait of himself as a gift when the two leaders visited the center on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on Wednesday.
VLADIVOSTOK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th September, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin has become a leader at the Okean (Ocean) children's center in Vladivostok, while Chinese President Xi Jinping received a portrait of himself as a gift when the two leaders visited the center on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on Wednesday.
After attending the EEF plenary session "The Far East: Expanding the Range of Possibilities," Putin and Xi went to the children's center, which is hosting a festival dedicated to the Russian-Chinese friendship.
The center's director, Andrey Bazilevsky, also gave a sweatshirt with the center's logo to the Russian president.
In addition, the teachers at the center gave Xi a photo portrait of himself that was taken eight years ago, when he visited the center.
The Chinese delegation, in turn, gave Putin a picture made of silk, depicting a crane, in honor of Russian rescuers who helped China after the earthquake in 2008.
After a series of devastating earthquakes in the Chinese province of Sichuan in 2008, the children's center received more than 1,000 schoolchildren from areas affected by the disaster, so that they could spend their holidays there. Later, the Chinese side equipped the center with two computer classes as a gesture of gratitude.
