Russian Ambassador Says Japan Peace Treaty to Set Atmosphere of Trust for Solving Issues

The peace treaty between Russia and Japan would help creating an atmosphere of trust between the countries, which will help resolve other contentious issues, Russian Ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin said Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th September, 2018) The peace treaty between Russia and Japan would help creating an atmosphere of trust between the countries, which will help resolve other contentious issues, Russian Ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin said Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to sign a peace treaty between Russia and Japan until the end of the year without any preconditions.

"As the president also stressed in his speech, we proceed from the premise that such complicated problems ... as territorial [disputes], such problems should be solved in a climate of friendship, cooperation, mutual understanding and mutual trust, so we still have to create this atmosphere. And the peace treaty would become a very important factor, a key factor in the formation of such an atmosphere, because today it is still absent," Galuzin told the RT.
