Contempt of Court notice: SC rejects Aamir Liaquat’s apology

The Supreme Court has ordered to indict Aamir Liaquat till Sep 27.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 11th September, 2018) The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) MNA and Televangelist Dr Aamir Liaquat Husain’s apology in the contempt of court case.

The Supreme Court has ordered to indict Aamir Liaquat till Sep 27.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar in his remarks said that the PTI MNA did not apologize to the court.

He said that the apology paragraph in the written reply submitted by him was not according to law.

The CJP further said that Aamir Liaquat will be disqualified if the contempt case is proven against him.

The Supreme Court had on Aug 10 issued a show cause notice to Aamir Liaquat Husain for contempt of court.

A three-member bench, headed by CJO Nisar, had heard a plea moved by a private tv channel against the PTI leader.

The CJP remarked that "such people, who do not have any control over their commentary, should not be allowed to sit in the parliament."

He also said that the show cause notice was issued to the PTI leader as he had lied on public television.
