South Africa, Belgium Strengthen Economic Ties Through Memorandum - Foreign Minister Lindiwe Sisulu

South Africa and Belgium signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Enhanced Cooperation to promote stronger bilateral and economic ties, South African Foreign Minister Lindiwe Sisulu said after meeting with her Belgian counterpart on Monday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th September, 2018) South Africa and Belgium signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Enhanced Cooperation to promote stronger bilateral and economic ties, South African Foreign Minister Lindiwe Sisulu said after meeting with her Belgian counterpart on Monday.

Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders is on a working visit to South Africa. During the meeting between Reynders and Sisulu earlier in the day, the two leaders discussed the revitalization of economic relations in areas of trade, foreign direct investment, and tourism between the two countries.

"You have just witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Enhanced Cooperation between the two countries. This cooperation includes Joint Commission on bilateral relations, to hold High Level bilateral engagements to enhanced bilateral cooperation and intensify economic ties between our two countries," Sisulu said as quoted in a published statement.

Apart from enhancing economic ties, the two leaders discussed cooperation between Belgium and South Africa as two non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2019.

Sisulu called for Belgium to send representatives from its business sector to the Investor Conference in South Africa in October.
