MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th September, 2018) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the Syrian refugees issue with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi during Sunday's phone talks, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"On September 9, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the initiative of the Jordanian party. During the conversation the ministers substantially discussed the developments in Syria with the focus on implementation of steps on return of Syrian refugees and temporarily displaced persons including those in the regions located near the Syrian-Jordanian border," the ministry said on its Facebook page.
The two top diplomats also exchanged their view on the recent developments in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
"[The ministers] reaffirmed the need to respect the relevant UN decisions and avoid unilateral steps," the ministry noted.
Lavrov and Safadi have also reaffirmed their countries' will to maintain the high level of political cooperation and to boost bilateral ties between Russia and Jordan.
