UVAS inks MOU with Huazhong Agricultural University Wuhan (HZAU) China to enhance scientific, educational and institutional linkages

The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore and Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) China have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance scientific, educational and institutional linkages

LAHORE (Pakistan Point News - 8th Sep, 2018 ) The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore and Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) China have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance scientific, educational and institutional linkages. UVAS Director External Linkages/Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and Vice President, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China Prof Zhou Chengzao signed the MoU in a ceremony held in Syndicate Room City Campus Lahore on Sunday.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof DrTalatNaseer Pasha, UVAS Pro VC Prof DrMasoodRabbani and a numbers of UVAS faculty members and HZAU Chinese delegation were present on the occasion. Under the MOU both parties wouldcollaborate in various programs of education, research, extension & business development and technology transfer. They willexchange teachers, researchers, and students and also provides some scholarships.They would develop collaborative projects on education, researches and agriculture extension.

Both parties will also organize joint academic program, symposia, seminar and conference. The Chinese delegationled by Prof Zhou Chengzao and other delegation comprising Mr Hu Chengxiao, Director/Dean, Department of International Cooperation & Exchange/International College, Mr Chen Sheng, Director, HZAU Alumni and Endowment Fund Work Office, Mr Hu Lihua, Vice Dean, College of Animal Science & Technology/College of Veterinary,MsXuXiaoyun, Vice Dean, College of food Science & Technology and Ms Song Lanxiang, Section Chief Department of International Cooperation & Exchange, Dr.

ShoaibMunir, Postdoctoral, College of Horticulture. They also hold a detailed meeting with Vice-Chancellor Prof DrTalatNaseer Pasha and other senior faculty members of UVAS. Speaking on the occasion, Prof DrTalatNaseer Pasha said that UVAS is working very closely with the Government of Punjab, livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab, poultry and dairy industry and playing an active role for the development of livestock sector. He said that UVAS is working actively to ensure safe and quality meat reaching the consumers.

He mentioned with the help of Government of Punjab another veterinary university recently established named Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Bahawalpur (CUVAS) for development of livestock in south Punjab, which is the hub of livestock. He said that there ample opportunities in livestock/agriculture in the Pak-China Economic Corridor (CPEC) and we should get maximum benefit from them.Prof Zhou Chengzao thanked to UVAS for providing full support and cooperation and institutional linkages.

Earlier, in a separate meeting the Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof DrMasoodRabbani briefed the Chinese delegation on the UVAS academic, research, extension & dairy advisory services, clinical & disease diagnostic facilities, development projects, vaccine production, various training programmes, national and international linkages, etc. He informed the delegation about the UVAS ranking among the top universities in Times Higher Education and QS World Top University Rankings.

Meanwhile, Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) China alumni association of Pakistan ceremony held at UVAS. In which 50 Pakistani students who completed theirs PHDs from HZAU were attended. On the occasion new alumni association members were elected for one year. The newly elected office-bearers areDrMoin-ud-Din (President), DrAmjadIqbal (Vice President Punjab), DrFarhan Anwar (Vice PresidentPeshawar), Dr Adnan Hassan (Secretary) and Dr Umar Ijaz (Vice Secretary). Prof Dr Pasha and Prof Zhou Chengzao congratulated new alumni members.
