Russia, Vietnam to Expand Zone of Oil, Gas Exploration on Vietnamese Shelf - Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have agreed to widen the zone of exploration and extraction of oil and gas on the Vietnamese continental shelf, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th September, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have agreed to widen the zone of exploration and extraction of oil and gas on the Vietnamese continental shelf, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

"The parties have agreed to expand the zone of exploration and production of oil and gas on the Vietnamese continental shelf in accordance with international law, including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea of December 10th, 1982," the Kremlin said in a statement.

Putin and Trong also agreed to promote the initiative of the Russian Novatek gas producer on building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal in the Vietnamese province of Binh Thuan.
