Specialists Proceed With Decontaminating Skripals' Home in Salisbury - Reports

UK military and civilian specialists have proceeded with decontamination work in the house where former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were allegedly exposed to a nerve agent attack, local media reported on Friday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th September, 2018) UK military and civilian specialists have proceeded with decontamination work in the house where former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were allegedly exposed to a nerve agent attack, local media reported on Friday.

According to The Guardian newspaper, the decontamination process of the house in Salisbury, which might take weeks or even months, is being supervised by the UK Department for Environment, food and Rural Affairs (Defra) in cooperation with the council of the county of Wiltshire.

During the work, all the items from the house will be removed and placed in a container set up on the road near the Skripals' home.

Following the disinfection, specialists will carry out additional tests to confirm the safety of the site.

The news outlet also dispelled rumors about the house's possible demolition, saying that the final decision has not been taken so far.

On Wednesday, UK Prime Minister Theresa May said that Russian military intelligence was behind the attack on the Skripals. Russian Envoy to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Alexander Shulgin, in turn, said that the suspects' photos and Names released by London did not prove Russia's involvement in the attack.

On March 4, Skripal and his daughter were found unconscious on a bench at a shopping center in Salisbury. The United Kingdom and its allies have accused Moscow of having orchestrated the attack with what UK experts claimed was the A234 nerve agent, without presenting any proof. Russian authorities have strongly refuted the allegations as groundless.
