DAMASCUS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th September, 2018) Over 200 companies from China take part in the 60th Damascus International Fair, Director General of the International Exhibitions and Markets Corporation Fares Kartli told Sputnik in an interview.
"This year, a total of 1,722 companies from 48 countries, including about 200 Chinese companies, take part in the exhibition," Kartli said.
In terms of the total area of the exposition, Chinese companies are ranked third, he noted.
"Chinese participation is very important. As for the area of the exposition, the first place is occupied by Russia, which is followed by Iran and China," Kartli said.
The annual Damascus International Fair began on Thursday and will last through September 15. It is the oldest fair in the middle East which was held for the first time in 1954. The event was canceled following the start of the civil war in Syria in 2011 but was resumed again in 2017.
