WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) Two senior US and India military leaders discussed increasing interoperability between their countries' armed forces, the Department of Defense said in a press release on Thursday.

US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford met with the Indian Chief of the Naval Staff and Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee Sunil Lanba in New Dehli.

"The two senior military leaders discussed a range of issues, including the current security environment, continued cooperation in training exercises and creating more opportunities to increase interoperability between the US and Indian militaries," the release said.

Also on Thursday, India and the United States signed the Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA) to facilitate the transfer of communications security equipment between the two countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Washington wants India to buy its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD) and other weapons programs and is trying to block New Delhi's purchase of Russia's S-400 Triumph air defense systems.
