US Director of National Intelligence Denies Writing Anonymous Op-Ed on Trump - Statement

US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Dan Coats insisted on Thursday that neither he nor his deputy authored the scathing New York Times op-ed by an anonymous senior administration official who fiercely attacked President Donald Trump.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Dan Coats insisted on Thursday that neither he nor his deputy authored the scathing New York Times op-ed by an anonymous senior administration official who fiercely attacked President Donald Trump.

"Speculation that The New York Times op-ed was written by me or my Principal Deputy is patently false. We did not," Coats said in a statement released by his office.

The bombshell NYT piece claimed many of the senior officials in the president's own administration were working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and accused Trump of amorality.

"From the beginning of our tenure, we have insisted that the entire IC [Intelligence Community] remain focused on our mission to provide the President and policymakers with the best intelligence possible," Coats said in the statement.

The opinion writer claimed to be working on behalf of "the resistance" within the administration to undermine and block the president's agenda. On Wednesday, Trump responded by describing the article as a "gutless" disgrace and called on the newspaper to turn over its author.
