Chinese Army Seeks to Get 'Invaluable Experience' at Russia's Vostok Drills - Official

The Chinese People's Liberation Army hopes to receive helpful experience during Russia's upcoming Vostok-2018 military exercise that will improve regional security, Military Attache of the Chinese Embassy in Russia Kui Yanwei said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) The Chinese People's Liberation Army hopes to receive helpful experience during Russia's upcoming Vostok-2018 military exercise that will improve regional security, Military Attache of the Chinese Embassy in Russia Kui Yanwei said Thursday.

"[We aim to] boost the capabilities of our armed forces and receive a invaluable experience from Russia, something which, of course, will help ensure peace and stability in the region," Kui told reporters.

The Chinese official noted that the Vostok-2018 drills were not intended to affect any third-party country.

The military attache recalled that over 3,200 troops, 900 pieces of equipment, and around 30 jets and helicopters of the Chinese army would be involved in the exercise.

Vostok-2018 will become the largest military exercises held by Russia in over 30 years. Nearly 300,000 servicemen, 37,000 tanks and armored vehicles, over 1,000 aircraft and some 80 ships will be involved in the drills, which are scheduled to be held on September 11-17 at five ranges in the east of Russia and in the waters of the Sea of Japan, Bering Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk.
