French President's Approval Rating Down to Record Low 23% Amid Gov't Reshuffle - Poll

The approval rating of French President Emmanuel Macron has dropped by four percentage points, compared to August, with only 23 percent of the French backing the country's leader amid the government reshuffle, a poll showed Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) The approval rating of French President Emmanuel Macron has dropped by four percentage points, compared to August, with only 23 percent of the French backing the country's leader amid the government reshuffle, a poll showed Thursday.

On Tuesday, Macron appointed President of French National Assembly Francois de Rugy new ecology minister to replace Nicolas Hulot, who had announced his resignation last week. Roxana Maracineanu will replace Laura Flessel as sport minister, after Flessel announced her resignation earlier on Tuesday, citing personal reasons.

Prime Minister Edouard Philippe lost 6 points since August, enjoying support of only 24 percent of respondents, according to YouGov poll for Huffington Post news outlet.

Macron's results were described as the lowest since his election.

The French president can be seen losing support across the political spectrum: his approval rating went down by eight points among the centrists, by seven points among the right-wing supporters, and two points among the leftists.

The French are particularly concerned over issues related to social protection, unemployment, migration and ecology.

The poll was conducted online on August 29 and 30 among 1,099 people aged 18 and older.
