WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Defense Secretary James Mattis will remain in his position, adding that his administration is happy with him, despite a report earlier in the day that the White House is searching for a replacement.
When asked by reporters whether Mattis would remain in his job, Trump responded, "Yeah, He'll stay.� We're very happy with him.�We're having a lot of victories."
Earlier on Wednesday, The Washington Post reported that White House officials were actively discussing who would replace Mattis if the Pentagon chief decides to resign.
The report said no decisions have been made, but added that many officials in the White House expect Mattis to leave sometime in the next few months.
