GORKI (Moscow Region) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Wednesday praised the current state of Moscow's relations with Hanoi, saying that they were "on the rise."

"Our relations are on the rise. The bilateral trade is growing, the political contacts are expanding, including those between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the United Russia [party]," Medvedev said during his meeting with the Vietnamese Communist Party's General Secretary, Nguyen Phu Trong.

The prime minister called the talks "a good opportunity to exchange opinions on various aspects of Russian-Vietnamese cooperation."

Medvedev recalled that Nguyen Phu Trong was expected to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on Thursday and noted that regular mutual visits contributed to the improvement of bilateral relations.

Russia and Vietnam have recently boosted bilateral contacts. The trade between the countries has increased, too. In 2017, it grew by 30 percent to $5.2 billion.
