"The US Census Bureau and the US Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that the goods and services deficit was $50.1 billion in July, up $4.3 billion from $45.7 billion in June, revised," the release said.
During the same period, US exports fell to $211.1 billion, while imports increased to $261.2 billion, the release added.
The trade deficit with the European Union increased $1.7 billion to $14.5 billion and the deficit with China increased $1.7 billion to $34.1 billion, while the deficit with Japan decreased by $0.7 billion to $4.9 billion in July, the release said.
US President Donald Trump has made the goal of reducing the US trade deficit a central part of his economic policy.
