Kremlin Refuses to Comment on Journalist Woodward's New Book on Trump

The Kremlin does not consider it appropriate to comment on a soon-to-be released book by veteran reporter Bob Woodward that reportedly criticizes US leader Donald Trump's presidency, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday, adding that the US leader could deal with this matter on his own.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) The Kremlin does not consider it appropriate to comment on a soon-to-be released book by veteran reporter Bob Woodward that reportedly criticizes US leader Donald Trump's presidency, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday, adding that the US leader could deal with this matter on his own.

The Washington Post on Tuesday published excerpts from Woodward's book, scheduled for publication on September 11, which is allegedly based on hundreds of interviews with first-hand witnesses and members of the Trump administration. The newspaper reported, citing excerpts from the book, that some of Trump's top advisers made insulting remarks about his intelligence, including US Secretary of Defense James Mattis, who later rejected the allegations.

"I don't consider it possible to comment on such publications concerning the head of a foreign state, especially the United States. We still hope that the US president will be able to settle the issues inside [his administration] himself, but we do not consider it appropriate to somehow comment or interfere," Peskov told reporters.

The spokesman added, however, that the Kremlin took note of all publications and media reports.

Trump himself has dismissed Woodward's book as "a con on the public," while the White House said it was "nothing more than fabricated stories."
