Russian Emergencies Ministry's Jet Delivers Over 30 Tonnes of Aid to Syria - Press Service

The Russian Emergencies Ministry's aircraft delivered more than 30 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the Syrian city of Latakia, the ministry's press service told Sputnik on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) The Russian Emergencies Ministry's aircraft delivered more than 30 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the Syrian city of Latakia, the ministry's press service told Sputnik on Wednesday.

"On September 4, the Il-76 jet of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered 34 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the city of Latakia for the residents of the Syrian Arab Republic. The cargo ... included food products, tents, blankets and dish sets," the press service said.

According to the Emergencies Ministry, the aid will be delivered to people in need as well as to refugees, who are returning to the settlements that were liberated by the Syrian army.

Russia, alongside Iran and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus both through supporting the struggle against terrorist groups and providing humanitarian aid to the residents of the crisis-torn country.
