Ex-Trump Lawyer Denies Staging Mock Mueller Interview, Calling President Liar - Statement

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) US President Donald Trump's former lawyer John Dowd said in a statement on Tuesday that he denies staging a mock interview for Trump with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, or calling Trump a liar, both of which are attributed to him in a book by veteran reporter Bob Woodward that is scheduled to be published on September 11.

"I do not intend to address every inaccurate statement attributed to me - but I do want to make this clear: there was no so-called 'practice session' or 're-enactment' of a mock interview at the Special Counsel's office," Dowd said. "Further, I did not refer to the President as a 'liar' and did not say that he was likely to end up in an 'orange jump suit.'"

Dowd added that it was an honor and privilege to serve Trump.

Dowd resigned as Trump's lead attorney in connection with the investigation into alleged collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign in March.

The White House also released a statement, claiming the book contained fabricated stories, many of which were from disgruntled former employees.

The Washington Post reported earlier on Tuesday that Woodward's book, "Fear," is based on hundreds of interviews with first-hand witnesses and members of the administration, as well as meeting notes, personal diaries and government documents.

Woodward reportedly sought an interview with Trump on numerous occasions but did not get one until after the book was complete. According to an audio recording of the conversation, Trump called Woodward in August, after the book was completed, to say that he wanted to participate.
