US Warns Citizens To Avoid Visiting Lebanon's Borders With Israel, Syria - State Dept.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) US citizens should avoid travel to Lebanese regions near the Syrian and Israeli borders due to security threats, the State Department said in a renewed travel advisory on Tuesday.

"US citizens should reconsider or avoid travel to certain areas in Lebanon because of the threats of terrorism, armed clashes, kidnapping, and outbreaks of violence, especially near Lebanon's borders with Syria and Israel," the advisory said.

The State Department warned Americans not to travel to Lebanon's borders with Syria because of the threat of terrorism and armed conflict. "The potential for armed conflict" was also cited as a reason for Americans to avoid travel to border with Israel, as well as refugee settlements.

The State Department kept Lebanon in its "level three" category of its four-stage security advisory system, meaning that US citizens should reconsider their travel plans to the country. The first level advises Americans to travel with normal precautions, while the fourth means a full bar against travel to a country.
