Russian Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. Alexander Fomin and UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy met on Tuesday to discuss issues related to the settlement of the situation in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) Russian Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. Alexander Fomin and UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy met on Tuesday to discuss issues related to the settlement of the situation in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. Alexander Fomin received on September 4 UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Ramzy Ramzy to discuss issues related to the settlement of the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic," it said.
The ministry said Fomin and Ramzy stressed the need to intensify the political process in Syria in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254, including with the use of the Astana format, adding that they also noted the importance of prompt implementation of the results of the Syrian national dialogue congress, including the formation of a constitutional committee.
