Putin's Plans to Visit France for WWI Armistice Centenary Remain Uncertain - Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin's plans to participate in celebrations timed to the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, to be held in France on November 11, are not yet set in stone, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th September, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin's plans to participate in celebrations timed to the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, to be held in France on November 11, are not yet set in stone, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

"No, there is not. We will inform you as soon as everything is prepared," Peskov told reporters, when asked if there was certainty about Putin's visit to France in November.

In late August, Peskov told reporters that Putin's possible trip to France for centenary events commemorating the World War I Armistice was being worked out through relevant channels.

The celebrations will be held in Paris.

As for preparations for Putin's visit to Serbia, mentioned by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in August, the Kremlin spokesman also could not provide any details.

Asked if the visit was being prepared, Peskov said "it is still unclear."

The Russian Embassy in Belgrade said in late July that Putin would visit Serbia later this year to sign a number of bilateral documents which would deepen Russian-Serbian cooperation.

This statement followed Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's remarks about his hope that Putin would pay a visit to Belgrade by the end of 2018.
