The Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday that it would host a special briefing on September 6 to inform foreign military attaches about the Vostok-2018 military exercises.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd September, 2018) The Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday that it would host a special briefing on September 6 to inform foreign military attaches about the Vostok-2018 military exercises.

The drills, set to become the largest military exercises in Russia in the last 37 years, will be held on September 11-15.

"During the [briefing], representatives of the leadership of the military establishment will speak in detail on aims, tasks, specifics, participating forces, as well as key stages of the most significant event for the military training of the Russian Armed Forces this year the Vostok-2018 drills," the ministry told reporters.

Almost 300,000 troops will participate in the drills, along with tens of thousands of armored vehicles, aircraft and drones. Troops from China and Mongolia will take part in one of the stages.

The Defense Ministry said that it had invited foreign observers to the exercises.

NATO Deputy Spokesman Dylan White told Sputnik last week that the alliance would monitor the exercises, and expressed hope that they would be "transparent and predictable."
