Over 220 Refugees Return To Syria From Lebanon Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd September, 2018) Over 220 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Refugee Reception, Distribution and Settlement said Sunday.

"Over the past day, a total of 222 refugees, including 67 women and 104 children left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and al-Qusayr crossing points," the center's bulletin read.

Since July 18, a total of 10,011 people have returned to Syria from abroad, the center added.

According to the refugee center, 460 internally displaced Syrian civilians have returned to their homes over the past 24 hours.

"The SAA [Syrian Arab Army] engineering units carry on the mine clearance operation in the settlements of Tel Bisa, Hamidiya, Gur in Homs province. They have cleared up four hectare of the territory, five buildings and 1 kilometer [0.62 miles] of roads. They found and defused 48 explosive devices including 12 improvised explosive devices," the bulletin added.

Lebanon has accepted over 1 million refugees from neighboring Syria over the several years. As the Syrian forces have recently regained control over vast territories of the country that had been seized by terrorists, refugees have begun repatriating. The Syrian government is engaged in creating favorable conditions for the returning civilians, with Russia actively assisting in the process.
