Over 200 Refugees Return to Syria From Lebanon Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

Over 200 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Refugee Reception, Distribution and Settlement said Saturday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st September, 2018) Over 200 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Refugee Reception, Distribution and Settlement said Saturday.

"Over the past day, in total 219 people (66 women and 112 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus ,and al-Qusayr," the center's bulletin read.

Since July 18, a total of 9,789 people have returned to Syria from abroad, the center added.

According to the refugee center, 389 internally displaced Syrian civilians have returned to their homes over the past 24 hours.

"The SAA [Syrian Arab Army] engineering units carry on the mine clearance operation in the settlements of Tel Bisa, Hamidiya, Gur, Homs province. They have cleared up: 3 ha of the territory, 3 buildings and 1km [0.62 miles] of roads. They found and defused 51 explosive devices including seven improvised explosive devices," the bulletin added.

Lebanon has accepted over 1 million refugees from neighboring Syria over the several years. As the Syrian forces have recently regained control over vast territories of the country that had been seized by terrorists, refugees have begun repatriating. The Syrian government is engaged in creating favorable conditions for the returning civilians, with Russia actively assisting in the process.
