Road Map on RUSADA Reinstatement Implemented, Agency Awaits WADA Decision - ROC President

All the steps required for the reinstatement of the Russian National Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) have been taken, President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov told Sputnik on Saturday, adding that the organization was now waiting for the decision of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Executive Committee.

NOVOSIBIRSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st September, 2018) All the steps required for the reinstatement of the Russian National Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) have been taken, President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov told Sputnik on Saturday, adding that the organization was now waiting for the decision of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Executive Committee.

On August 21, WADA's Compliance Review Committee (CRC) addressed RUSADA's reinstatement, but the agency's press service refused to comment until the executive committee session whether the CRC had decided to restore RUSADA status.

"The issue [of reinstatement] will be discussed on September 20 ... All the steps have been already taken, we are waiting for the executive committee's decision. The compliance review committee does not announce any information until the executive committee session," Pozdnyakov said.

In 2015, WADA accused Russia of multiple doping violations and declared RUSADA non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code.

In 2016, head of WADA's independent commission Richard McLaren published a two-part report on anti-doping violations in Russia, claiming that they were part of a state-supported doping system. Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, have refuted allegations of the existence of a state-run doping program but admitted there were issues with doping abuse.

In early August last year, WADA released a road map to code compliance with 12 criteria, which Russia had to meet before WADA's compliance committee can recommend that RUSADA be reinstated. In November, the WADA panel ruled at a meeting in Seoul that RUSADA remained non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code.
