Russian Military Delivers 400 Food Sets To Eastern Ghouta Residents -Reconciliation Center

DUMA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st September, 2018) Russian servicemen have distributed more than 400 food sets to the residents of the Syrian city of Duma in the Damascus suburb of Eastern Ghouta as part of a humanitarian operation, head of the humanitarian aid group at the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation, Vladimir Laidenov, said on Saturday.

"We have distributed over 400 sets of food to Duma residents during the humanitarian operation," Laidenov said, adding that the assistance packages comprised rice, flour and canned meat.

Russian military has been carrying out regular humanitarian operations across Syria as part of Moscow's efforts to assist Damascus in dealing with the aftermath of the ongoing civil war. Almost 2,000 humanitarian operations have been conducted by the Russian side so far, with around 3,000 tonnes of food and bottled water delivered.

Russian medics ave been providing medical assistance to Syrians and distribute medication during the humanitarian missions as well.

Russia is not the only country assisting Damascus. In August, the Russian military police delivered 44 tonnes of tents, medication and blankets provided by France for the residents of Eastern Ghouta. Prior to that, 30 tonnes of food were sent to Syria by Armenia.
